As you can see, our boy is getting along famously! His scabs from the demodex are almost completely gone. He is still scratching a lot but compared to what he was going through when he got here, he is in a much better place.
The top 2 pictures are the day he got here, the bottom 3 were taken yesterday afternoon and night. The difference the bravecto and the medicated baths have already made is astounding to me. Like I mentioned before, he is still scratching alot –to the point of breaking the skin– so he still has a long way to go, but I am very happy with the progress he is making so far.
He has definitely not ever been trained or taught anything in his entire life. Although we believe him to be around 2 years of age, he acts like he is still 3 months old. Needless to say he has a lot of behavior issues that we are working on with him. He has already eaten a pair of headphones–nice ones!– and chewed the USB cord of a printer!
This is one of the behaviors I’m working on training first! He mouths my hand when he is excited or is trying to get my attention. We have started working on this by first teaching him not to mug my hand when I have treats in it. Although this behavior isn’t problematic now –he doesn’t bite hard– it could become so in his future, forever home. So we are going to teach him now that this isn’t ok!
He is such an amazing little boy! The rescue has started a gofundme page to help cover the costs of his treatment. If you are falling in love with this boy (like we have) please consider donating to help us get him healthy! http://gogetfunding.com/saving-them-from-demodex/
